Music

“Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand.” – Stevie Wonder

At Kilburn Grange School, we have music specialists who teach music across the school. We buy into a programme called Music‘sCool, a multi-cultural music programme for schools, providing high-quality music lessons, linked to the National Curriculum and delivered by music specialists in Brent primary schools. It is designed to promote a love and enthusiasm for music while covering all areas of the National Curriculum Music programmes of study in KS1 and KS2 and to contribute significantly to the EYFS early learning goals. Music‘sCool’s aim is to develop and enhance every pupil’s general musicianship skills through participation in a variety of activities. Singing and performance lie at the heart of the programme and they aim to build each child’s confidence in music-making through the development of singing skills combined with whole-body movement activities and instrument playing. In Year 1, children learn to play the violin. From Year 2 onwards, children learn to play the recorder. From Year 4 onwards, children also learn to play the ukulele and from Year 5 onwards, children learn to play the drums.
