What are Year 3 learning about this term?

It’s great to be back at school after such a long hiatus. We’re 3 weeks in and well into the swing of things now.
Maple and Oak class started off by reading an award winning book ‘Here We Are‘ by Oliver Jeffers – who wrote the book for his 2 month year old son to explain the world to him. This book created a lot of rich discussion about our diverse planet and our communities within it. We created leaflets to give to a visitor visiting our planet for the first time telling them all about the wonderful things we have.
In Maths we’ve been learning lots about place value using place value charts and dienes blocks and have begun using number lines up to 1000.

In Geography, Reading and Science we’re learning all about the locations of the rainforests throughout the world and beginning to understand the different aspects of them and why they are so critical to our planet.
