Mathematics
At our school, we provide a vibrant and engaging maths curriculum that aims to inspire every learner. We want all children to enjoy maths, feel confident in their abilities, and develop a positive, curious approach to mathematical thinking.
Our teaching focuses on building strong understanding through clear modelling, practical resources, and meaningful discussion. We support children to explore ideas, make connections, and deepen their reasoning as they move through the curriculum.
We follow a mastery approach from Early Years to Year 6. Children secure key concepts before progressing, and all pupils are supported and challenged in a way that meets their individual needs.
To ensure consistency and progression, we use the White Rose Maths scheme from Early Years right through to Year 6. In Reception, this is complemented by the Early Years Development Matters framework. This approach helps children develop fluency, independence, and confidence in their mathematical thinking.
We encourage pupils to be courageous mathematicians who are not afraid to make mistakes. By promoting resilience and a secure understanding of key concepts, we help every child succeed and see themselves as capable and enthusiastic learners of mathematics.
