Music
Our vision is to enrich our children’s futures through an in-depth love and appreciation of music.
We use Music'sCool, an exciting, primary curriculum programme providing high-quality music lessons, linked to the National Curriculum and delivered by music specialists in over 30 Brent primary schools.
Music'sCool is designed to promote a love and enthusiasm for music while covering all areas of the National Curriculum Music programmes of study in KS1 (early years - Year 2) and KS2 (Years 3-6), and to contribute significantly to the EYFS early learning goals.
Music’sCool develops and enhances every pupil’s general musicianship through participation in various activities. Singing and performance lie at the heart of the programme and the aim is to build each child’s confidence in music-making through the development of singing skills combined with whole-body movement activities and instrument playing.
The programme gives children the opportunity to learn several instruments (all supplied by the programme) from a range of musical traditions across the primary school phase. This is further enriched with a range of extra-curricular opportunities including choir and small group tuition lessons as well as musical experiences.
All schools should have a music development plan and are expected to publish a summary of their plan on their website. For more information about our music provision, please read our summary plan below.
