Cicero Cup 2026

On 27 January, we hosted the annual heat for the Cicero Cup debate competition. Four teams from three London schools competed for the chance to advance to the Cicero Cup National semi-finals.

The competition featured two rounds: the first was a pre-planned round with topics such as implementing "e-sports" in schools to replace traditional physical education classes. In the second round, pupils were given 20 minutes to prepare their arguments for an impromptu debate. All participants spent the day developing their oracy, confidence and critical thinking, leaving with improved abilities and lifelong memories.

Among the teams, three "star speakers" were recognised for their respectful and impressive debating techniques. One of our pupils, Oliyad, was praised by the Noisy Classroom representative for the second consecutive year for his use of language and style, and ability to listen and respond to rebuttals. Well done Oliyad!

The facilitators rounded up by encouraging all the children to compliment each other, creating a friendly environment where children can learn how to win and lose respectfully.

Congratulations to all the pupils who participated in the debates! Thank you to all the teachers and Noisy Classroom for facilitating the debates.
