Community Iftar

We hosted our first ever Iftar event, bringing together around 150 pupils, families, and staff for an evening of community and shared joy. The hall was filled with warmth and conversation, our families brought an incredible array of delicious dishes from around the world, reflecting the cultural diversity of our school community.

The event was open to families of all faiths, offering those observing Ramadan the opportunity to break their fast together while also creating a welcoming space for others to learn more about the tradition. The atmosphere was lively and inclusive. Thank you to our staff who generously volunteered their time, and to the families who thoughtfully prepared and donated food — your contributions played a huge part in making the evening so memorable.

One member of staff said: "It was an amazing event - and really brought the families together in such a special way.”

A participant added: “The Iftar was such a warm and memorable evening, bringing staff, families and the wider community together. Thank you to everyone at KGS for organising it, and a special thank you to Shelina and Umaimah for all the hard work they put into making it happen. We’re also very grateful to the parents and community for the many delicious dishes they so generously shared.”

This first Iftar event marks a meaningful moment for our school community, and we hope to make it a tradition we can enjoy together again in the future!

We are also very grateful to Harrisons Catering, our catering company, for their generous donation of foods.
