Last week, Kilburn Grange School parent and local governor Mrs Niki Khan was invited to Westminster by local MP and Minister for School Standards, Georgia Gould OBE.

Mrs Khan has been a dedicated member of the Kilburn Grange community for many years. Her eldest child graduated from our school last year, while her youngest is still with us. Over the years, she has supported school events, led fundraising efforts, brought families together, and strengthened our sense of community — always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

In particular, Mrs Khan played a key role in supporting Kilburn Oasis, a major community event that inspired both Brent and Camden councils to begin the process of closing Priory Park Road to traffic. Working tirelessly alongside residents, school staff, and colleagues from the Bellevue Place Education Trust, she helped make the event, and the associated Play Streets, a resounding success.

We are thrilled that Mrs Khan’s exceptional contribution has been formally recognised. Georgia Gould MP invited her along with other members of the One Kilburn association, to Westminster to express gratitude and admiration for her dedication to improving both our school and the wider Kilburn community.

During her visit, Mrs Khan received a certificate of recognition and enjoyed a tour of Westminster, including the iconic Westminster Terrace with its stunning views over the Thames and the London Eye.

Headteacher Helen Khinich said: "Niki truly represents the very best of our school community — generous with her time, unwavering in her commitment, and always driven by a desire to make life richer for our children and families. We are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved and deeply grateful for the passion and heart she brings to Kilburn every single day. Her recognition in Westminster is so well deserved, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside her to make our community even stronger."

A member of One Kilburn said: "Niki is a fantastic community champion. She has helped develop our One Kilburn initiative, reaching out and connecting people whose voices would not normally be heard."

We are incredibly proud of Mrs Khan and delighted to see her hard work celebrated in such a special way. Congratulations Niki!
