Mayor of Camden visits our school

We were honoured to welcome Eddie Hanson, Mayor of Camden, as part of our Black History Month celebrations. He shared his inspiring story of arriving in the UK from Sierra Leone, starting anew, and rising to become a community leader through kindness, perseverance and hard work.
Mayor Hanson’s key messages to our pupils:
- Be kind — treat everyone with respect and compassion
- Don’t give up — even when things get tough, keep trying and believe in yourself
- Your background doesn’t define you — what matters most is your attitude and actions.
He encouraged every child to see themselves as capable of achieving great things, even when the path is difficult, a powerful message for our Black History Month celebrations, reminding us that our shared history is full of trailblazers who started just where we are now.
We’d like to thank Mayor Hanson for taking the time to visit our school, share his story, and light a spark of possibility and hope in all our children. His words will stay with us as we continue to learn, grow and strive for excellence.
