Physical Education

“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose – it teaches you about life.” – Billie-Jean King

Physical Education (P.E.) develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, outdoor and adventurous activity challenges, swimming and water safety and athletics. Our P.E. curriculum inspires all children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills, and it promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. We enable the children to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives. We provide opportunities for children to compete in sport and other activities to build character and help to embed our school values.

Each class is taught P.E. twice a week by our specialist sports coach. Our school also regularly participates in sports competitions with local schools and schools across our trust.
